What does it mean to join Team Friendship Austin?

When you sign up for the Austin Marathon for February 2024, you’re signing up for a lot.

It takes a lot to go out and message your friends and family to donate, and then follow up, and then maybe ask the people you haven't spoken to in months because you’re almost at your goal. It’s a lot to get out there and train in every weather and spend hours putting one foot in front of the other.

But that’s just the opening act for the absolute epicness to follow.

When you touchdown in Austin, you’ll meet hundreds of runners from across the country who believe that friendship should not be a luxury for people with disabilities.

You’ll spend an incredibly uplifting weekend at the Hilton in downtown Austin, just steps from the marathon starting line at the Texas capital. You’ll hear from the incredible families who benefit from your run and meet incredible individuals with disabilities who will run alongside you during the race.

You’ll experience our famous pre-race pasta party that ends in a dance party just hours before the marathon, and after a bit of sleep, head to the start line with over 17,000 runners for a race that’s epic enough to be in the top 10 worldwide.

You’ll race through downtown Austin, one of the coolest cities in the country, passing famous murals and lakes and being cheered by dozens of live music bands in the live music capital of the world. When you cross the finish line, you enter a 3 block long party and beer garden with live bands where your running shoes turn into dance shoes.
