Day 3: Hiking the Virgin River

Breakfast will be at around 7:00 AM with an 8:00 AM departure. We will transfer into Zion, take the park shuttle up the canyon, walk the Riverside Walk and then enter the Virgin River. The River is the trail.

* Plan on approximately 4-6 hours of hiking
* Distance will be decided by the guides based on the group and the river collection
* Water level vary. Expect ankle- and knee- deep water, with some sections potentially reaching mid-thigh or waist deep.
* Be prepared to get wet from your hips down * Via Jolley will provide trekking poles/walking sticks for stability

Cold Water + River Conditions: The River is cold in May, with average spring water temperatures typically around 41-53 F. Even when the air temperature is warm, the water can feel considerably colder inside the canyon. No dry suits or neoprene equipment are planned for this trip.
*Important Note: The Narrows is dependent on river flow, spring runoff, weather and current park conditions. Zion national Park closes the Narrows when the Virgin River flow exceeds 150 cubic feet per second, and it also closes during a National Weather Service Flash Flood Warning. If the Narrows is closed or conditions are not safe for our group, Via Jolley with substitute another Zion hike. your guides will monitor conditions leading up to the trip and make the final decision based on safety and park conditions.
