The #1 rule:

YOU ARE NOT ASKING FOR RENT.

Yep, that’s right.  The #1 rule to fundraising is to feel and know what you are asking for. 

You are NOT asking for a tip.
You are NOT asking for a raise.
You are NOT asking for help paying the bills.

You are asking to stop the labeling.
You are asking to end the staring.
You are asking to give a child a friend.

And guess what?
PEOPLE WANT TO BE A PART OF THAT.

They want to be a part of the mission.
They want to be a part of your journey.
And they really WANT you to ask.
